Why we made KathaCocoon.

Hi, I'm Parth. My wife and I are raising three little ones in Maryland, far from our family roots in Gujarat. Every Diwali we'd try to explain why we clean the house, light diyas, and do Laxmi pooja, and we kept looking for picture books that did it well. The ones we found were too hard for our toddler or too dry for our seven-year-old.

So we started making our own. Every KathaCocoon story is read aloud to our kids before anyone else sees it. If they don't laugh, ask questions, and beg to hear it again, it doesn't ship. Our Diwali book went through four rewrites to get there.

KathaCocoon is for families like ours: Hindu, far from where our grandparents grew up, and wanting our kids to feel these stories belong to them too.
